Smartphone Film Festival: 478 films from 68 countries!
Submissions for the 2nd Mobile Motion Film Festival are now closed and we have received 478 films from 68 countries.
With 97 submissions the USA is on top, followed by India with 37, followed by the UK with 35, follwed by Iran 28, France, Spain and Brazil. We are very proud to have recieved films from as far away as China, Nepal, South Korea and New Zealand.
Every third film was shot by a first-time filmmaker and every fifth film was made by a female director. Our youngest participant is 13 years old.
The enormous enthusiasm of filmmakers from around the world has touched us yet again. And with so many taking the opportunity to make a film on a mobile device for the first time (or even shooting their first film), we’re very excited about this year’s festival.
“Thank you for creating such a unique and inclusive festival, I wouldn’t have been able to make this film without an outlet like yours. In the 4 months it took to write, produce, design, and direct I have learned more about myself than I thought possible.” ~ Aris Tyros, first-time filmmaker
“I’m so excited to have submitted to this festival!!!! Never have I seen a more engaging, appreciative and active group of nice folks.” ~ Andy Van Scoyoc
The festival founders will watch every film and pre-select the best 30 films. Our panel of judges (to be announced soon) will then evaluate each movie individually to determine the winners.
In April, the nominations will be announced and that’s also when the presale of tickets for the Award Night starts!
