6 Best Selfie Sticks 2019
The main reason for owning a selfie stick is for taking pictures of yourself with your smartphone. Of course, having that extra distance from your camera means your can get more into the picture, as well as yourself. This might mean friends, family members or a beautiful landscape behind you.
For smartphone filmmakers there can be a use too. When I decided to shoot some short films using my Samsung S9, one of the first things I bought was a cheap selfie stick. I bought a Mpow selfie stick for £16.99 on Amazon (currently unavailable) with small feet so I could use it as a very lightweight tripod.
A selfie stick can also be used as a low cost monopod for photography or filmmaking.
Whatever you choose to use your selfie stick for, we’ve made a list of our favourites here. Since we’re all taking photos with our smartphones now, there are a huge number of selfie sticks on the market. We’ve done some hunting around to narrow things down for you a bit.
1. Mpow
This Mpow selfie stick is simple, small and lightweight, does the job and is very affordable. The stick pairs with your Smartphone via a Bluetooth wireless remote control which is built into the handle. So you can click the shutter button of your smartphone remotely while the phone is out of reach.
When retracted, this stick is only 7.1 inches (18 cm). The stick extends to 31.5 inches (81 cm). There’s also a wrist strap to help you avoid dropping the stick and phone.
The stick weighs 4.8 ounces (136 grams).

2. Fugetek FT-568
If you’re looking for something a bit more heavy duty the Fugetek FT-568 is well constructed and durable. You can also mount your mirrorless or DSLR camera to the stick. Compared to the Mpow, the stick extends from 6.3 inches (16 cm) to a maximum of 49 inches (124.5 cm).
The Bluetooth button is again in the handle for easy shutter control. You’ll need to check your device is compatible, though. A GoPro adapter is sold separately as the Bluetooth does not work with GoPros.
The stick weighs 9.6 ounces (272 grams). So the extra length, durability and strong build comes with the disadvantage of extra weight.
3. BlitzWolf
This is a selfie stick with tripod stand. The Bluetooth trigger is set in the handle, but can be removed as well to be used as a remote. For example, if you want to use the stick as a tripod, you’ll be able to hold the Bluetooth trigger.
The stick extends from 7.8 inches (20 cm) to 26.7 inches (68 cm). The complete item weighs 5.6 ounces (158 grams). The Bluetooth works at a distance of up to 33 feet (10 meters).
So this is a great all-round selfie stick giving you a lot of options, without being too bulky.

4. Matone
This selfie stick again functions as a stick and a tripod, with detachable Bluetooth trigger. The stick is a little longer, extending from 7.8 inches (20 cm) folded up to 28.7 inches (73 cm). The stick also weighs roughly the same at 155 grams. The Bluetooth trigger works up to 33 feet (10 meters).
The Matone selfie stick is compatible with a large range of devices including GoPros.

5. Fugetek FT-569
Fugetek call this a professional selfie stick. And you can see why. It’s sturdy and a seriously heavy duty piece of kit.
Like other, this stick can be a tripod too. But the legs of this one have folding supports for extra stability.
The stick extends from 19 inches (48 cm) up to 51 inches (130 cm). However, the cost of this extra sturdiness is a weight of 1.05 pounds (476 grams). On the plus side, this extra weight will make the stick more stable in tripod mode. On the downside, that’s a considerable extra weight to carry around if you just want a casual selfie stick for travel.
Essentially, this item is bigger than most selfie sticks but smaller than a dedicated tripod. So if you’re looking for something that does both jobs then this might be the stick for you. This selfie stick comes with a detachable Bluetooth remote, charging cable, phone mount, manual and a carrying bag.
6. JTWEB
We chose this one because we like the design, with everything sliding into the handle. The stick only weighs 3.7 ounces (105 grams) so it’s perfect for travel. While the stick extends from 6.5 inches (16.6 cm) to about (24 inches) 61cm when in use, when folded into the handle the whole item is only 5 inches (12.7 cm long).
There’s Bluetooth connection, with the trigger in the handle (check compatibility with your device). The JTWEB selfie stick is light, affordable and transportable. But the downside of that is it’s not as sturdy or durable as the heavier selfie sticks. But for portability it wins hands down.
