Moment Camera App – Update 3.5 for filmmakers
Earlier in 2018, Moment launched their own dedicated camera app for your smartphone (which includes a shop so you can buy more of their stuff, even quicker). They’re better known for making lenses, but now they’re putting some extra effort into their camera app – perhaps hoping to provide some real competition for leaders FiLMiC Pro.
Version 3.5 is currently available only for iOS, but the Android version (still on 3.4) is reported to be updating soon.
Here’s the list of new or updated features:
- Multiple Color Profiles – Select from default, flat, or log color profiles to get the most out of your files in post-processing.
- Real-time Waveform Monitor – Evaluate video brightness and exposure across your image in real time.
- Video RGB Histogram – Dial in your video color, balance, and exposure with a live RGB histogram.
- Multiple Video Bitrates – Get precise control over video quality with standard, medium, and high bitrates to choose from.
- Dual-channel Audio Meters – Get just the right sound levels with real-time, precise, dual-channel (when available) audio level readout.
- NTSC and PAL frame rates and associated shutter speeds.
I’ve only tried the Android version, which is pretty basic. Certainly, it doesn’t compete with FiLMiC Pro. However, I’m looking forward to the updates coming to Android, so I can try them out.
