Movo WMX-1: New Wireless Microphone Under $100
For filmmakers, vloggers, YouTubers, smartphone and DSLR shooters alike, great audio is now essential. Audiences are less and tolerant of low-grade audio. So it’s really important to try to find an effective way to record the spoken voice, without too much hassle.
In addition, most of us can’t afford the highest level wireless clip-on microphone setups. Therefore, we’re usually looking for something kore affordable at a decent quality level. Movo have been make affordable microphone solutions for a while now and their new release looks pretty interesting.
Movo WMX-1
The Movo WMX-1 broadcasts on the open 2.4GHz frequency spectrum. These systems, like for example the RØDE Wireless Go, operate in 83 MHz of spectrum between 2.400 GHz and 2.483 GHz. The same as WiFi. These mics are simple to use, lightweight and convenient. They generally have lower range than UHF wireless mics. But operating within normal distance to your camera, this shouldn’t be a problem.
Movo say their WMX-1 has interference-free and regulation-free wireless transmission up to 200′ ft (60m). The good this is these mics will work with DSLR, camcorder, smartphone or tablet.
The mic system is 1 transmitter and 1 receiver unit, each powered by 2 x AAA batteries. Note, the WMX-1-DUO comes with 2 transmitters and 1 receiver, also powered by AAA batteries. The batteries (tip: don’t use cheap ones!) will last up to 6 hours before they need recharging/replacing.
Personally, I find the 2.4GHz spectrum wireless mics to be easy to setup and connect. So you don’t spend too much time playing around, trying to get mics working. You’re also able to get direct headphone monitoring from this system.

Maybe your US based but I can’t find this mic in the UK
I know, I noticed that. Movo distribute a lot of other stuff to the UK so maybe we just have to wait a few weeks.
