Olloclip announces ‘Multi-Device Clip’ lens mount
As the name suggests, an Olloclip Multi-Device Clip is a universal-style camera attachment to offer more flexibility than the company’s iPhone-only products.
I’ve never owned an iPhone and only used one to film (an iPhone 5) a few years ago, for a kickstarter promo video. First film I shot with a smartphone I used a Samsung S8. When that got stolen, I finished the film with a S8+. As everyone had been talking about the Moondog Labs Anamorphic I wanted to give it a try. However, the lens designed for the iPhone wouldn’t fit onto a Samsung.
So I bought a clip which came with a cheap clip with a 37mm thread and this. It worked really well except for one thing – the clip covered the exposure meter of FiLMiC Pro. I found it impossible to set the exposure manually, unless I kept removing the clip. From the images on their website, it looks like the Olloclip might have the same problem.
You can see from this example the clip covers the settings so you can’t tell the fps or ISO. Just something to bear in mind when thinking about a lens clip.
