RED Hydrogen One: Underwater Housing Pics
Does Jim Jannard (RED Digital Cinema founder) even know what a smartphone is? Jannard has recently been posting some pre-release pics and videos of the underwater housing for the RED Hydrogen One. There’s something very… I dunno… steampunk about the phone and now this extra kit.
To me this stuff looks he’s basing his designs on Jules Verne novel illustrations. Perhaps he’s now focusing his marketing strategy on product placement in a future 2000 Leagues Under The Sea remake.
Certainly, the look of the phone and add-ons look unlike anything else smartphone-related I’ve seen. Maybe someone needs to have a word. “Jim, the idea of smartphones is they’re small, lightweight and can fit in your pocket.”
I mean, I really enjoy the look of it. Just not sure if it’s all that practical.
However, RED defines the Hydrogen as a “Media Machine” rather than a regular smartphone, so… yeah Media Machine. Like HG Wells the Time Machine? Has that ring to it, doesn’t it.
Anyway, here’s an unboxing…
“Misha’s got a new toy… a Gates underwater housing for her HYDROGEN. She lives in the water so this is something she was so looking forward to. She has already shot some incredible 4V stills and video which will be posted soon.” Jim
