Unboxing: RED HYDROGEN ONE
“WOW that looks like it’s shot on a Red!” A reaction many smartphone filmmaker’s fantasise about. If you ever get to own one of these devices, you’ll be able to slyly retort: “That’s because it is.” (Red hydrogen one)
Yes, if you haven’t already heard, Red are making a smartphone. To me it looks like something a Space Marine from Warhammer 40,000 would use to phone home. However it has some interesting features, including a screen which provides a hologram effect for images.
The feature which obviously concerns us most – the camera – is still a work in progress. But here’s a sample image taken using the phone by Marques Brownlee.
Check Marques unboxing video below. There’s not a lot to unbox in this early Houdini model. But the video shows off port placement and gives us a better idea of how the phone’s buttons and fingerprint sensor fit into those scalloped edges, as well as a few of Red’s included apps.
