Thank you to the 100s of filmmakers and film-lovers who have offered their support of the past 5 years. Many have have expressed their reasons for supporting an independent film festival, and why it matters to their own lives.
Thank you to everyone who has taken time to share our stories with the world and to share their stories with us, so we can redistribute some of the inspiration they offer. After all, what is a festival for, if not for sharing stories?
Your input is vital in helping us shape our strategy as we strive for MoMo’s sustainability and create a platform that works for all.
By supporting us, you become one of a growing number of MoMo leaders, as we embrace and encourage the democratisation of filmmaking.
At a time when the media is concentrated in just a handful of powerful companies, the financial commitment from our supporters and leaders is vital to maintaining an independent resource for filmmakers and mobile journalists.
By the end of 2018, MoMo will officially have no sponsors. This means we are your festival, 100%. There will be no other aim outside of sharing films, inspiring filmmakers, and helping aspiring filmmakers to make their first steps – no matter their background, their gender, or their nationality.
Our mission is to help keep filmmaking on a path towards being more open and more accessible than it’s ever been before. To do that, we need your help.
With your support, we can focus on ideas that matter to you. If you wonder why films are not as relevant to you as they once were, money might have something to do with it. There are no lobby groups helping filmmakers win a MoMo.
So, while the likes of Netflix, AT&T and Disney slug it out to be the world’s most giant media company, MoMo is quietly getting on with helping the next decade’s hit-show makers or Oscar winners find their way.
With your encouragement, we’ll keep watching and selecting the best smartphone films made around the world. We’ll continue to provide informative articles on how to make the best films with a limited budget. And there will be more inspiring stories from filmmakers who are out there, leading the way.
5 years ago, we created MoMo to help make the filmmaking career path a fairer one. Our hope and our passion was to join a movement creating a film industry for everyone.
We believe, through the support of our MoMo backers and patrons, that we have a huge opportunity to be at front of the new democratic film movement. Sharing stories being shaped, told and lived by us – the citizens of a global family.
