How To Stabilize Video Using Google Photos App (FREE)

  1. Upload video to Google Photos app
  2. Tap video to open it
  3. Tap Settings icon (bottom-middle)
  4. Tap “Stabilize” and wait for Google Photos to stabilize video
  5. Save video

If your footage is too shaky, there are ways to stabilize the video after filming. Lots of editing programs now have stabilization features.

But you don’t have access to editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie or Final Cut Pro then you can use the Google Photo app. The app is free, but unfortunately only the Android version has the stabilization feature.

The app actually does a great job.

Try to get stable footage in camera

Although this is a great free option to fix footage in post, it’s better to try to get smooth footage when filming. The smoother the footage, the less work a stabilizing app will have to do later.

But although we aim to get the perfect totally smooth camera movements, it’s not always possible. That’s why Google Photos can be a lifesaver.
