Sirui Swift M1 and Sirui Swift P1 Gimbals
Sirui recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for 2 new smartphone gimbals. While Sirui Swift M1 is designed for smartphones only, the Swift P1 stabilizes smartphones and mirrorless cameras up to 900 grams.
Sirui Swift M1
The Swift M1 is foldable and so competes with devices jumping on the new trend for compact gimbals. It weighs 498 grams (1.1 lbs) and can carry a maximum load of 300 grams (0.66 lbs). The non-removable battery should last for 6 hours, according to Sirui, which is low compared to competing devices.
While the battery is disappointing, the max payload of 300 grams is pretty good. The gimbal also follows the recent trend for foldable gimbals. However, some reports suggest the foldable design is overly complex and causes damage to the gimbal over repeated use.
Folded, the gimbal is 218 x 115 x 63mm in size.
The gimbal the usual control panel, an LCD screen and 4 available modes:
- Tilting-Following Locked
- Tilting Following
- Triaxial Following Locked
- POV (Roll Follow Mode)
So, at first glance, the Swift M1 hardware delivers nothing new over existing smartphone gimbals. But what about the app? The app is available for iOS and Android and provides various features, many of which we are already familiar with:
- Instant Scene Transition – like “sport mode”?
- Hitchcock mode for the “Vertigo effect” or dolly zoom shot.
- A POV Roll mode.
- The Pano Shot mode creates 90/180/360° panorama pictures.
- A Path Lapse mode for hyperlapses.
- Active Track mode uses AI to keep the person in the center of the frame.
We will have to wait and see how well the app works with different smartphone models.
Sirui Swift P1
The Sirui Swift P1 is a medium-weight 3 axis gimbal. Being designed to carry smartphones as well as DSLR and mirrorless cameras, it has few competitors. The Zhiyun Crane-M2 being one notable phone+camera gimbal. The gimbal can carry up to 900 grams (1.98 lbs) and weighs 800 grams (1.76 lbs).
Meanwhile, the Swift P1 battery will last up to 9 hours. Gimbal size is 337 x 190 x 52.4mm.
The Swift P1 is not foldable and features all the sames modes except the Hitchcock mode. With your camera connected, you can control focus as well as other photo and video recording settings. However, you will need to check which cameras are currently compatible with the gimbal.

While Zhiyun’s recent Kickstarter campaign backfired somewhat, Sirui are on IndieGoGo using it as a kind of “pre-order” platform.
Currently, the Swift M1 is going for half price ($49) so we have to admit that is a great price for a foldable smartphone gimbal. At time of writing, there were only about 100 at this price remaining. We have no affiliation with Siriu so we’re on on commission or anything. In fact, I only noticed just now as I went to check IndieGoGo offer.
