5 iPhone 11 or 12 Camera Tricks You Might Not Know About

Here’s a few little iPhone camera tricks you might not know about.

Trick number 1

allows you to record a video while you are still in photo mode. You might be in a situation where you want to quickly grab a video shot before the moment passes. Switching to video mode might take you a couple of actions by which time it’s too late.

In photo mode, tap and hold your finger on the shutter button. Your camera starts to record a video, as long as your finger stays pressed on the shutter. Once you lift up your finger, the video stops recording.

Trick number 2

allows you to record videos from photo mode without holding your finger in place.

If you want to keep recording without having to hold your finger on the shutter then swipe to the lock symbol.

Your iPhone camera will now continue recording a video until you stop it.

Drag up to lock

Trick number 3

allows you to take photos while you are recording a video.

Where you swiped up to lock the shutter, you will now see a new photo shutter button. The video is still recording, but you can tap this new shutter button and the camera will take a photo. This means you can capture videos and take still photos at the same time.

Trick number 4

allows you to activate burst mode. Tap and drag the shutter button in this direction and now you will see a counter which starts counting rapidly upwards. Each number is a new photo being taken.

Drag down for burst mode

Trick number 5

allows you to open up a zoom control. If you normally use the 2 finger pinch method to zoom in and out, you might find this trick gives you more accuracy.

Tap and hold on one of the lens picker icons. A wheel opens up which you can slide up and down to change the zoom. If you want to record a zoom in a video, for example, this will give you a much steadier, more professional looking zoom.

Now it’s time for me to zoom… away.
