NEW: LumaFusion 2.0

LumaFusion is a hugely popular in-phone editing app for the iOS system. Luma Touch (the makers of LumaFusion) have been demonstrating the new features included in the big 2.0 update.

New features for LumaFusion 2.0 include:

• New UI which streamlines your editing, with new track headers for locking, hiding, and muting all tracks.
• Overview of your timeline that lets you jump to any edit with a single touch.
• 6 video track timeline (upgraded from 3 in the current version).
• 6 audio tracks (as audio is implemented in video too, technically have 12 audio tracks in all)
• XML for Final Cut Pro for export to the pro Apple editing software (XML for Adobe Premiere & DaVinci to come) – available via a LumaFusion 2.1 update scheduled to arrive later this summer.
• Integration with Frame.io for direct uploading
• View your video on an external screen. Add more space for your timeline and library, with the new UI layouts.
• Planned new video stabilization feature to arrive in a later update.

So it looks like Luma Touch is really taking big steps once again to keep their editing app moving forward. Not sure how easy it will be to manage 18 tracks (audio + video) in total within an iphone screen. However, this kind of upgrade makes more sense when using an iPad.

Other new features which are more about ease of use and integration are always going to be useful, even on a small screen. Ease and speed of use is increasingly a priority, so anything that unclogs the workflow is always going to be appreciated.

The LumaFusion 2.0 updated UI appears friendlier for smaller devices like the iPhone. The new version has a refined appearance, solidifying the LumaFusion brand further.

There’s now new track headers for muting, locking, and hiding tracks. They’ve also included a timeline overview, so you can jump to any position with a touch. The new timeline UI is reminiscent of the Touch Bar on MacBook Pro machines running Final Cut Pro X.

You can also now place both video and audio clips on the anchor track. This provides more flexibility to the editing workflow. Meanwhile, the new marker toolset allows you to make notes at specific spots on the timeline.

Any video maker using iOS devices should check out LumaFusion as it’s one of the best editing apps for smaller devices around.
