This was… MoMo 2019

I tend to think that the Christmas celebration (Yuletide, Holiday Season or whatever else you want to call it) is about looking back, while New Years is all about looking forward. That’s why Christmas/Winter Solstice has a retrospective feeling to it.

A Glühwein laced with a couple of measures of tradition. Santa dressed in his Coca Cola outfit sitting on an old fashioned sleigh, powered by reindeer (rather than Tesla motors), and the whole thing generally feels like it harks back to simpler times.

Meanwhile, we celebrate New Year by exploding things, trying to stay awake until midnight and kissing random strangers. But essentially we’re looking forward to what might be ahead of us.

Anyway, this gives us a chance to look back at MoMo last year and remember some special things that have happened to the festival.

Over the year, we have published 320 articles about smartphone filmmaking and filmmaking in general. I also started the FREE Film School which aims guide aspiring filmmakers through the process of teaching yourself how to make films. We now have 28 lessons, with more to be added (about 1 per week).
